Malda is marked for its mango and silk production, which are the chief economic activities. The grace for the people of Malda is Gombhira, which is a kind of song sung in distinctive rhythm. The place is famous for two of its very famous historic cities; Pandua and Gaur. Rice, jute and wheat are the three main crops which are circulated from Malda. Cotton and silk industries had also prospered in Malda in 18th Century. The place is full of historical monuments like Jami Masjid, Nimasari Tower and many more. 

Location

Malda, once the capital city of West Bengal, also famous as English Bazar, is located 347 kilometers north of Kolkata. It is situated on the banks of the river Mahananda.

History

Malda has always been an important place of power in the history of West Bengal. The immortal city of Gaur and Pandua adds to the distinguished past of Malda. We can also see that Malda gives us a great account of Mohammedan rulers who had left behind mosques as a historical significance. The two must visit places in Malda are Gaur and Pandua.

Gaur - It is one of the most important historical places of 15th Century, which has enormous value from archeological view point. Research also shows that North Bengal has been a very important part of the Gupta Empire. Dynasties that have ruled Malda are the Palas and the Sens. Gaur is located on the Indo-Bangladesh border.

Pandua - 18 kilometers north of Malda, this is another glorious significance of architecture. Pandua has a history of beautiful mosques out of which only ruins are left as memories. Holding a very interesting archeological history, Malda is the attraction of many tourists, who come here to visit the relics of beautiful archeological monuments.

Found by Sams-ud-Din Firuz Shah, Pandua is also famous as Hazrat Pandua or Firuzabad. The most praise-worthy monument of Pandua is Jami Mosque or the Adina Mosque, the finest architecture of Pathans. The other relics are the Eklakhi Mosque and the Qutb Shahi Mosque.

Attraction

The main charms of Malda lie in the museums of this district. Muslim architecture, Adina mosque is an attraction for tourists. Some other worth watching attractions are Bara Sona Mosque, Dakhil Darwajah, Qadam Rasul Mosque, Lattan Mosque and some other remnants of ancient times. 

The monuments that are a real charm to see at Adina are Adina Mosque of 14th Century (the largest mosque of medieval times), Gol Ghar, Eklakhi Mosque and Adina Deer Park

At Gour the various attractions are Firoz Minar, Chika Masjid, Qutwali Gate, 12 gated Mosque and Qudm-e-rasul.

Some other places of attraction are Nimasarai Tower, Jami Masjid, Pandua Shrine, Piran-e-Pir Shrine, Lost monastery of Jagjivanpur, Ramkrishna Mission Temple, Chanchal Palace and Aquatic Bengal.
